Privacy Policy

Last updated July 19, 2026

First Counsel is operated from Canada and serves firms in the United States. This policy explains how we handle information you provide through the website, intake, billing flow, and support communications.

Information we collect

The intake may collect contact details, firm and attorney information, office and jurisdiction details, service and design preferences, credentials, supplied testimonials or case-result summaries, and the content needed to build your site. We also retain project communications and support history.

Stripe collects payment-card details on its hosted checkout. We receive transaction status, amounts, customer contact details, and Stripe identifiers, but not your full card number. Vercel Web Analytics provides aggregated page-view information such as page, referrer, approximate location, device, and browser data without third-party advertising cookies.

How we use information

We use information to prepare and deliver the site, process deposits and subscriptions, communicate about the project, provide support, secure and improve the service, keep business and transaction records, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell personal information or use intake content for third-party advertising.

Service providers

We disclose information to service providers only as needed to operate the service: Convex and the Intake Engine for intake data, Stripe for payments, Resend for service email, and Vercel for hosting and privacy-focused web analytics. Those providers process information under their own terms and may use subprocessors.

Cross-border processing

Because First Counsel is operated from Canada, serves US customers, and uses providers that operate internationally, your information may be processed or stored in Canada, the United States, and other locations used by those providers. Information in another jurisdiction may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, or regulators under that jurisdiction’s laws. We remain responsible for information under our control and use contractual or other safeguards appropriate to the service.

Retention and security

We retain information only as long as reasonably needed to deliver and support the service, maintain transaction and project records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Retention periods vary by record type. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices and contact

You may ask to access, correct, export, or delete personal information we control. We may need to verify your identity, and some information may be retained where required for transactions, legal obligations, security, or disputes.
